Our story

On August 15, 1945, Nico Lafrenz arrived at the Asphalt and Road Construction Company in Hamburg. In 1950 and 1951, branches of the group were opened in Dortmund and Neumunster.  In 1952, white cast asphalt was used for the first time as a zebra crossing on pedestrian crossings in Hamburg.

In 1953, Lafrentz laid red molded asphalt on one of the standard squares in Hamburg. Construction of the Cologne-Frankfurt-Nuremberg motorway began in 1956. Lafrentz laid 170,000 m2 of asphalt with its subsidiary in Dortmund. This was more than half of the asphalt pavement laid in the Federal Republic of Germany that year. Between 1965 and 1968, additional branches were opened in Berlin, Alsfeld, and Hannover.

In 1969, the sons of Dr. Helo Lafrenz and Dipl.-Ing. Uwe Lafrenz joined in connecting to his plans. The eldest, Nico Lafrenz, moved to the advisory board. In the same year, Lafrentz received and completed an order for the creation and laying of concrete platforms for the working flight areas at Berlin Tegel Airport.

In 1972, another branch was founded in Hockenheim. In 1982, Lafrentz began surfacing road surfaces in the transverse direction of binders. In 1984, the company introduced requirements for the production and installation of bitumen road crossings and expansion joints in Germany. The production and application of profiled markings took place in 1986.

In 1988, the company began work on the controlled advancement of pipes during the construction of canals and analysis networks. Lafrentz has always stood for innovation, with constant investments in equipment. The materials used, many of which represent the results of rigorous research and development, have been subject to constant quality control and field testing. After German reunification in 1990, Lafrentz opened additional branches in Rostock and Leipzig.

It should be noted that Lafrentz was able to actively participate in the repair of roads and the construction of new highways in eastern Germany. In the 1990s, further expansion into Eastern Europe continued, and an online subsidiary of Lafrentz was created. In 2000, Lafrentz Holding was dissolved.

Many of the former branches are now successfully functioning and operating as independent business entities.
